BAPA _ Non-profit Social Organisation _ Singapore.jpg

About Us

Badan Agama dan Pelajaran Radin Mas (BAPA), also known in English as the Religious and Education League of Radin Mas, is a non-profit social organisation established in 1957. It was officially registered as a society on 6th August 1960 and has been recognised as a registered charity under the Charities Act since 1989.

Vision

An organisation that inspires character development.

Mission

To nurture Islamic values to the community through educational and social activities.

Our Value

Our Origins and Mission

BAPA was founded with the mission of improving the socio-economic status of residents in Kampong Radin Mas during the 1950s through education and community engagement. The organisation aimed to uplift the educational and economic standing of the Radin Mas community by providing access to affordable religious and academic education.

Before its formal establishment, BAPA’s journey began with the Sekolah Ugama Radin Mas, a religious education initiative designed for parents and teenagers in Kampong Radin Mas, Singapore. These classes were led by the esteemed Islamic scholar Kiyai Haji Ahmad Zuhri Bin Mutammim (1905–1985) at his in-law’s residence at 47 Radin Mas. In 1956, Sekolah Ugama Radin Mas was officially registered and licensed under the Ministry of Education.

Our Growth and Development

To cater to the younger generation, Qur’an recitation and Fardhu ‘Ain classes were conducted at the Radin Mas Surau, located in front of Kiyai Zuhri’s in-law’s house. The surau was built on a plot of land generously donated by Kiyai Haji Abdul Halim Bin Karto, his father-in-law.

Following the demolition of the Radin Mas Mosque in 2001, BAPA expanded its mission beyond the Radin Mas district, reaching out to serve the wider Singaporean Muslim community through social outreach and da’wah initiatives. In 2009, Sekolah Ugama Radin Mas was re-established as Singapore’s first and only full-time Tahfiz Madrasah, providing a structured environment for Qur’anic memorisation and religious studies.

Our Educational Programmes

BAPA has since diversified its educational offerings to include:

All of BAPA’s educational programmes are fully registered and recognised by the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) under the Islamic Education Centres and Providers (IECP) licensing framework.

Commitment to the Community

BAPA remains committed to its founding values of education, social empowerment, and religious guidance, continually evolving to meet the needs of the Muslim community in Singapore. Through its structured educational programmes and outreach efforts, BAPA strives to uphold its legacy of nurturing knowledge and faith for future generations.

Support Our Mission

As we continue to grow, BAPA is in urgent need of funding to establish a dedicated building that will allow Sekolah Ugama Radin Mas (SURM) to fully function as a school and expand its Tahfiz programme in Singapore. This initiative will provide a stable and conducive learning environment for students, ensuring the preservation and growth of Qur’anic education for generations to come. We invite generous individuals and organisations to support our cause and contribute towards the development of our future educational hub.
