Orphan Aid
Project
A humanitarian aid project to provide aid and relief for up to 20,000 orphans (Yatims)
in Aceh Indonesia, Timur Leste and countries in the Horn Of Africa to be launched this Ramadhan.
In our latest fund raising project, BAPA is collaborating with Ethar Relief (Eritrean And The
Horn Of Africa Relief) - a UK based relief organisation and various other orphanage organisations from
Indonesia,Timur Leste and other Asian countries.
Our aim is to spearhead a project to alleviate the pain of those
less fortunate than us - especially the orphans - and together help to make a differance and put a smile back on
their faces, insya-Allah.

Orphan Aid Project Overview : |
Losing one or both parents is
traumatic for any child in any situation. Each year, millions of children are orphaned due to conflict, famine, and
diseases such as HIV/AIDS.
Our
collaboration with reliable and credible Islamic Relief Agencies worldwide like Ethar Relief, Islamic Relief,
Ummah Welfare Trust and Rumah Yatim will help support orphans in more than 20 countries
worldwide.
Over
27,000 orphans worldwide are currently in need of support to ensure that they finish school and have enough
money for food, healthcare and household necessities.
This project aims to improve the living conditions of orphans and to organise social activities for orphans and
their families. Orphans receive clothes, school bags and books, notebooks and other school
materials.

Why The Need For Orphan Aid
Project - Project Background |
|
ERITREA :
The Forgotten
People of Africa. For countless decades, Eritrea and its people have been a forgotten race, and
have suffered all the pain and indignities that comes with being forgotten.
We aim to help the
displaced Eritrean Refugees in East-Sudan who number more than 500,000. They lack even the most
basic of necessities that should be the right of every human being. Ethar Relief is a new
charity, being established since 2007, and have been working ever since to alleviate the pain of
those less unfortunate than us.
We hope you become
emblazed by this noble cause just as we have, and hopefully together we can overcome this human
tragedy, and correct the mistakes of those before us. The Eritrean refugees in East-Sudan have
endured too much pain and suffered for too long. Know that you and I together can make a
difference and put a smile on their faces.

MALI :
Mali is one of
Africa’s poorest countries, with over two-thirds of the population living on less than $1 a
day.
Poor access to
healthcare has led to the spread of HIV/AIDS and other fatal diseases. This has created a huge
number of widows in Mali, who struggle to provide for their families after their husband’s
death.
Orphans are
often not able to attend school because it is too expensive, leaving them with very few
employment prospects.

KOSOVO :
Over 10,000 people
were killed during the 1996-1999 conflict in Kosova and most of these were men. The loss
of the family breadwinner has left thousands of orphans and widows
destitute.
At the moment, local
authorities provide around €60 a month to families in Kosova’s poorest communities. However, in
most of these families there are more than three orphans and this small income is not enough to
cover the costs of basic household necessities such as food, clothing and heating. As a result,
many children are weak and malnourished, which has made them more vulnerable to
illness.
Education has
also become more expensive in Kosovo, which has led to huge numbers of children dropping-out
from school.
ETHOPIA :
Drought has caused
food insecurity in Ethiopia for the last 30 years. Between 5 and 7 million Ethiopians cannot
produce enough food for themselves and their families. Many families also have difficulty
accessing water, healthcare, sanitation facilities and education.
The HIV/AIDS
pandemic has seriously affected Ethiopia and almost 5 million children have been orphaned by the
disease.

ACEH, INDONESIA :
Recently, a team from BAPA viisted Banda Aceh Indonesia to personally see how
orphanages there are coping after the devastating tsunami of 2004. We found out that there were
over 200 orphanages in Banda Aceh alone and many more orphans that are outside the care of the
orphans home. Most of them are suffering from post trauma of the tsunami and civil war that took
place a decade ago.
Two of the orphanages we visited had their homes located just 500 meters from
the shores before the tsunami struck back in 2004. They lost about 600+ orphans during the
tsunami...the rest who survived are still suffering from severe trauma...
NGOs from various other Asian countries have helped rebuilt and relocate their
homes away from the shores. But they are barely surviving now with only measely basic income from
relief agencies there - they are given only IDR 3,000 or SGD 50 cents a day per orphan to operate
their orphanages. Just imagine, just 50 cents a day for meals, education needs, clothes,
school and transport etc. Do you think this is sufficeint ?

EMERGENCY APPEAL FOR ORPHANS : |
For as low as $10, insya-Allah you can help provide at least a
decent meal for iftar this Ramadhan to an orphan. If you can't help a million, then at least help
one...
When we think of food shortages we often think of people living in areas of drought where little
food can grow. But the reality is often much more complicated. Food shortages are often caused by conflict, climate
change, trade and agricultural policies, or because people are simply too poor to be able to buy food.
Last year has seen an increase in natural disasters and crisis affecting millions of people,
with severe drought in East Africa, floods in Pakistan, the spread of unrest and civil turmoil in North of Africa
and the Middle East – we need to work quickly to help those less fortunate.
According to UN statistics there are about 153 million orphans
worldwide.
BAPA is relying on your kindness, these needy people are not in control of
their circumstances and its not about them. It’s about you and what you can do to help.
Please use these special days to give Zakat and Sadaqah. Do what you can, to
help us provide food, water, medical supplies and shelter to your brothers and sisters who are in desperate need,
especially the orphans.
By making a small donation, you can make a huge
difference this Ramadhan. May Allah (swt) accept it from you.

Rewards During
Ramadan
All Muslims are rewarded for acts of good deeds, charity and worship throughout
the year. However, during Ramadan, these rewards are multiplied, making the month even more
special.
“The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a grain of corn growing
seven ears with one hundred grains in every ear; and Allah multiplies rewards for whom He pleases…”
[Al Qur’an 2:261]
Paying your Zakat during the month of Ramadan gives you more rewards than when you pay in any other
month, insyaAllah.

Orphan Aid Sponsorship Program : |
Let us all make a differance in their
lives.
The sponsorship programme will ensure that orphans’ social, financial and educational needs are
met.
The project includes children's education, health support, provision of shelter and sanitary
latrines shelter and practical training for widows. These include a high quality education,
medical treatment, support for the family or guardian, dietary needs, and clothing and
transport.
Widows and orphans are usually amongst the poorest of the poor. Orphans from destitute families
are often deprived of their rights and are often survive in extreme poverty, homelessness, neglect and remain
largely uncared for.
Sponsorship provides orphans and their families with enough money to cover their
basic needs including food, shelter, healthcare and education.
Like all children
orphans too dream of happiness and success.

Sponsor An Orphan For Just $50 Per Month Or $500 Per Year :
What will $50 a month do?
$50 will provide the following for an orphan:
• Sufficient food for the whole family
• Clothing
• Educational resources (fees, uniforms and books)
• Health care
• Small percentage to the family and guardian for improving self sufficiency
The orphan sponsorship involves providing an adequate income for the orphan, to secure his basic necessities of
food, clothing, education and healthcare.
Today there are millions of disadvantaged orphans around the world, who don’t have
the same opportunities as other children. Orphans are often deprived of food, clothing, sufficient health care and
a good education. Perhaps the greatest tragedy of all is their lack of education.
Given the opportunity of going to school, these orphans could develop practical skills, which would enable
their
communities to break out the cycle of poverty.
A monthly donation of $50 or $500 per year will provide the basic necessities
including food, clothing, health care, education, school supplies and daily living expenses,
insya-Allah.
Orphans are supported in Afghanistan, Albania, Bangladesh, Burma, Chechnya, India, Iraq, Kashmir,
Palestine, Somalia and Sudan, Indonesia, Timur Leste and in Pakistan.
More sponsordhip programs coming soon...keep tuned to our
website.

Virtues Of Orphan Sponsorship
Sponsoring an orphan is one of the greatest deeds that Allah (swt)
and his messanger Mohammad (pbuh) emphasised, and immense rewards have been guaranteed for those
who sponsor needy orphans.
It is well known that in Islamic Religion sponsoring an orphan is greatly rewarded. The
Holy Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “I and the person who looks after an orphan will enter
Paradise together like this”, then he raised his forefinger and middle finger together. (Saheeh
Al-Bukhari)
Allah in Quran said: “They ask you (Mohammad) regarding orphans, so
answer them to treat them (orphans) well and do what is good for them”
[Al-Baqara, 220]
The Prophet (PBUH) said to a man complaining from the hardness of his
heart: Do you like to soften your heart and perceive what you need? Be merciful to the orphan, pat
his head and feed him" [Al-Tabarani].
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The best house amongst the
believers is the one in which an orphan is treated well and the worst house amongst the believers
is the one where an orphan is mistreated”.
Transforming a life costs us very little but ensures us a place in Paradise. It is also a
sadaqah jariya or continuous
charity as the donor will receive Allah's rewards as long as the child is alive.

Did you know...
Ramadan is the 9th month of the Hijra Calendar, which is based on
the lunar cycle. It is shorter than the mainstream Gregorian
calendar.
Each year, Ramadan falls 10/11 days earlier than the previous year
and begins by the sighting of the first new moon
Paying your Zakat during the month of Ramadan gives you more rewards
than when you pay in any other month
Opening a fast with a date has added health benefits; dates are an
excellent source of fiber, sugar, magnesium, potassium, and have carbohydrates
which will aid the body in maintaining health and avoiding common health
problems such as migraines, low blood sugar and tiredness.
When the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh) fasted, he would break his fast by
eating a fresh date. Today, it is tradition for Muslims to break their fast
with a date.
